Cap Gemini Ernst & Young Government Solutions Chooses PSS Systems as Document Policy Compliance Solution
Leading System Integrator to Use PSS1 Internally and In Client Engagements
PALO ALTO, California, November 4, 2003 — PSS Systems, Inc., a pioneer in document policy management and compliance solutions, today announced that the Cap Gemini Ernst & Young Government Solutions (CGEY) group has chosen its flagship product, PSS1™, as its document policy solution of choice for securing sensitive internal documents, as well as to exchange information with clients and subcontractors. The Government Solutions group will also integrate PSS1 into solutions designed to enforce document policies in mission-critical government applications. By teaming as integration partners, the two companies will be able to help their government clients manage and enforce document policies on distributed, mobile documents, including information shared across agencies. As a result of the partnership, PSS® will expand its market reach into the public sector.
Improved Document Compliance Across Diverse Information Infrastructures
CGEY manages hundreds of subcontractors, thousands of individuals, and millions of documents during system integration engagements. The Government Solutions group typically focuses on projects involving highly sensitive government information. Project information is highly mobile, flowing between consultants, partners and clients. While documents may originate within secure repositories at CGEY, once they are copied and shared with partners during project collaboration, they become vulnerable. Until now, organizations distributing sensitive, proprietary data have been unable to track, monitor, or ensure proper disposal of documents once outside of an enterprise repository, and have had to rely on individual users to effectively enforce existing document policies which greatly reduces compliance.

The PSS1 software is an enterprise solution that allows organizations to create, manage and enforce document polices such as access control, authorized use, and retention schedules for defined records and sensitive data assets. The PSS product automatically applies and enforces polices across distributed documents - even copies located outside the corporate network at partner sites, on home systems and on removable or back-up media. Because the system applies and enforces policies automatically and consistently, compliance is improved dramatically. And it does so with significantly reduced costs compared to prior record management and retention procedures that were typically manual, ad hoc, and at the discretion of the individual user.
