PSS Systems Names Deidre Paknad President and CEO
Experienced Compliance Executive Tapped to Guide Firm to Market Leadership
PALO ALTO, California, January 13, 2004 PSS Systems, Inc., a pioneer in document policy solutions that span the information lifecycle, today announced it has named Deidre Paknad as president and chief executive officer. Paknad takes the helm following the company's recent launch of its flagship policy software, which helps enterprises establish comprehensive document and retention policies for compliance and risk management.
Founder, former president and CEO Alain Rossmann continues as chairman of the board and strategic advisor to the company. Rossmann is a distinguished entrepreneur who has founded and led five successful technology companies, most recently Openwave Systems (NASDAQ: OPWV).
"PSS Systems has an impressive product offering and is well capitalized, which provide an excellent platform for growth and market leadership," said Paknad. "Today's Fortune 500 companies require the ability to define and enforce information policies that can span the information lifecycle, which is particularly challenging given the massive proliferation of content from individual desktops and laptops across the enterprise. I am excited to lead and grow PSS as we address this large market opportunity to help companies better manage regulatory compliance, reduce risks and reduce costs."
"I am delighted that Deidre is taking the lead at PSS Systems," said Alain Rossmann. "She brings entrepreneurial talent, industry expertise and a track record of establishing market leadership. The climate of increased regulation, litigation and the explosion of electronic content create tremendous opportunity for PSS. Under her guidance, PSS Systems is positioned to expand its customer base and establish its leadership."
Paknad brings two decades of technology and management experience to PSS, with expertise in SEC and FDA compliance markets and software solutions. She joins PSS from Nth Orbit, where she served as vice president of marketing and business development. Prior to Nth Orbit, Paknad founded CoVia Technologies, an early innovator in collaboration and portal solutions. She served as its CEO from 1996 through 2000. She has held previous operations, marketing and executive positions at semiconductor, enterprise software and consumer packaged goods companies including Altera, Consilium (acquired by Applied Materials), and Digimedics (acquired by Mediware).
