CGOC Announces Series of Working Lunches Focused on Complex Information Retention and Collection Issues
Co-Hosted and Moderated by Expert Litigators from Top Law Firms

Mountain View, California, August 17, 2005 — The Compliance, Governance & Oversight Council (CGOC) today announced the CGOC Discovery Lunch Series focused on essential topics for retention and litigation practitioners. The working lunches will be co-hosted by the prestigious law firms of Skadden, Arps, Hunton & Williams, Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, and Connolly Bove, and moderated by subject matter experts from these firms.

The exclusive working sessions offer practitioners the opportunity to have substantive and candid discussions on complex, rapidly-changing issues:

  • The New Role of Records Coordinators: The Connection to Discovery – September 15, 2005
Co-hosted by Hunton & Williams, and moderated by Lisa Sotto, partner and retention and privacy practice manager, and John Woods, partner

The discussion will address the role of records coordinators in discovery and how to garner operations and line of business support for core litigation processes.

  • Monitoring for Departing Employees in Active Litigation and Discovery – September 26, 2005
Co-hosted by Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, and moderated by Meredith Kotler, partner

The discussion will address whether litigators should routinely monitor for departing employees, the implications of doing so, and modern approaches for monitoring.

  • Accelerating the Dialogue Between Legal and IT: Distributing Discovery Responsibility Without Losing Control – October 20, 2005
Co-hosted by Skadden, Arps and Connolly Bove, and moderated by Matt Cohen, Skadden counsel, and Kevin Brady, Connolly Bove counsel

This session will tackle the role IT should play in collecting information and how to delegate without abdicating control. Modern monitoring approaches will be discussed.

“Our research shows that in this litigation climate of severe sanctions for e-discovery failures, many companies are revisiting their processes for retention and discovery management,” said Deidre Paknad, founder of CGOC and president and CEO of PSS Systems. “It is critical for litigation and retention practitioners to understand what best practices are and what other practitioners are doing on the thorniest issues.”

To ensure active discussion, seating for these complimentary events is limited. Qualified individuals interested in attending can get more information at www.pss-systems.com.
