PSS Systems Announces Affiliate Education Program for Law Firms and Litigators
New CGOC Expert Resource Directory Compiles Electronic Discovery Experts
Mountain View, California, December 15, 2005 After capturing and codifying the Zubulake Checklist and based on accelerated adoption of its Atlas Litigation Communications and Collections (LCC) solution, PSS Systems®, the leading provider of information retention and preservation solutions, announced its new Affiliate Education Program for outside counsel and electronic discovery service providers. The program is designed to provide resources for outside counsel who now have heightened obligations for their clients’ preservation and production processes.
Several landmark cases have recently underscored the scope of responsibilities for retention and preservation of electronic information. The Zubulake v. UBS Warburg LLC case, widely considered a legal benchmark, established that outside counsel must take affirmative, specific steps to establish and monitor litigation holds and that counsel must understand their clients’ retention processes. This obligation on outside counsel is difficult to meet without onsite monitoring or a litigation process management system that ensures that legal holds are put in place, repeated reminders are issued, key players are interviewed, and relevant information is identified, preserved and produced. To help address these increased responsibilities, the Affiliate Education Program provides counsel with access to critical information, process benchmarks and software that address these obligations through the following:
Technology briefings on the latest retention and preservation processes: Exclusive product and solution information on litigation communications and collections software and electronic discovery tools.
Complimentary CGOC membership: CGOC is a leadership forum and community of interest on retention and preservation issues. It publishes a journal and hosts executive events throughout the year, including an annual Summit each January. At this year’s Summit, attorneys from Skadden Arps, Mayer Brown, Wilson Sonsini, and Magistrate Judge Ronald Hedges as well as corporate practitioners from Citigroup and Halliburton will convene for two days on retention and preservation.
Complimentary litigation communications software (for limited use in qualified situations): For outside counsel managing cases with complex legal holds, large groups of key players and distributed collection sites over extended periods of time, complimentary limited-use software licenses are available to better manage the legal holds and collections process. The software provides extended visibility and controls for corporate and outside counsel.
Affiliate listing in the CGOC Expert Resource Directory: CGOC provides a directory of experts for use by its corporate litigation and compliance members. Affiliates will be listed in their area of expertise with biography and full subject matter qualifications.
“With heightened oversight obligations, it behooves counsel to understand the systems that can improve the efficiency and efficacy of the preservation and production process,” says Deidre Paknad, President and CEO of PSS Systems. “Our Atlas Litigation Communications and Collections solution makes it feasible and cost effective to meet the Zubulake Checklist – and therefore reasonable to do so. The Affiliate Education Program makes it easy for counsel to learn more about preservation requirements and real solutions that can be applied in litigation.”
The PSS Affiliate Education Program and the CGOC expert resource directory are free and limited to attorneys and practitioners with specific and substantial expertise in e-discovery, preservation, and retention policies and programs. The limited-use licenses are available for litigation attorneys in AmLaw 100 law firms with significant need to better manage and control legal hold notices, confirmations, and collections.
